A hunting license is required, and a waterfowl hunter 16 or older must carry current federal and Vermont duck stamps. Federal stamps are sold at post offices, federal refuges and online at www.fws.gov/birds/get-involved/duck-stamp/buy-duck-stamp.php. Each spring, Vermont places a conservation order for harvesting snow geese. This order is designed to increase harvest of these birds, whose populations now exceed one million in the Atlantic Flyway and threaten the long-term health of the ecosystems they inhabit.
