Ice Fishing for Trout Begins January 1

January 1 - March 15

Vermont's fishing regulations have undergone a major overhaul. Most have been simplified, and now anyone can fish nearly all water bodies in the state year-round as long as they practice catch and release. Some highlights include: In certain lakes and ponds, the winter harvest season for trout will start on January 1. You can keep 8 trout from streams and rivers.
