SHOTGUN or BOW AND ARROW TURKEY season opens

2017 TURKEY SEASONS Youth Weekend: The weekend prior to the opening of spring turkey. Shooting hours: One-half hour before sunrise to 5:00 pm. The youth hunter may take one bearded turkey during Youth Turkey Hunting Weekend and may also hunt during the Spring Season and take two bearded turkeys during that season. Moose Season, October 21-26

For many hunters, drawing a coveted moose hunting permit is the hunt of a lifetime. Moose are managed through a permit lottery system, by management unit, allowing the Department to limit or expand the harvest numbers annually by region. Successful applicants are allowed to designate a second shooter and a guide. Look up moose permit lottery winners for 2017 here.

New York DMP Remaining Permits Issued

Hunters possessing a New York Deer Management Permit (DMP) may take one antlerless deer per permit, in addition to deer that may be taken with a regular big game tag or Bow/Muzz Antlerless or Bow/Muzz Either Sex tags. Application period runs from the middle of August through October 1 each year.
