Spring Snow Goose Conservation Order SEASON OPENS, all zones
Each spring, Vermont places a conservation order for harvesting snow geese. This order is designed to increase harvest of these birds, whose populations now exceed one million in the Atlantic Flyway and threaten the long-term health of the ecosystems they inhabit.
To establish a spring conservation order in Vermont, the state must collect information on hunter participation and snow goose harvest. This information will help managers assess effectiveness of the spring conservation order for reducing snow goose populations.
A free permit is required to participate in the Spring Snow Goose Conservation Order.
NOTE: At the end of the special spring conservation order for snow geese, you are required to take a few minutes to accurately and completely fill out a survey online, even if you did not participate or bag any geese.
Season extends from March 11 thru April 24. In the Connecticut River Zone, applies only to land, not Connecticut River waters.
